JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. --

Family, friends and coworkers recently gathered to witness the 7th Airlift Squadron change of command ceremony at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, May 21, 2026. U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Matthew Weinberg, outgoing commander, relinquished command of the 7th AS to Lt. Col. Adam Bergoo, leading to a new era for the squadron.

Weinberg was awarded the meritorious service medal, honoring him for his years of dedication to the squadron. The ceremony had remarks from Lt. Col. Jack Smith, 62d Operations Group deputy commander, Weinberg, and Bergoo and ended with the formal introduction of the unit’s newest commander, setting the stage for future airlift operations.
