The 62d Airlift Wing offers free base tours to local civic organizations, high schools, businesses and academic recruitment programs (JROTC/ROTC) and youth groups for community outreach, and familiarization and education of the Air and Space Forces, and Team McChord mission. Tours are available every day, except during Federal Holidays or weekends.
Public tours of the 62d AW and Team McChord are available to groups of 10 to 40 people on a first-requested, first-served basis. Exceptions to this policy may be granted on a case-by-case basis. The 62d AW strives to accommodate tour requests, however they can be subject to last-minute cancellations due to security, safety, mission requirements and resource availability.
Requesting a Tour
Tour requests must be submitted to 62d Airlift Wing Public Affairs no later than 45 days prior to the date of the tour. Groups requesting a tour must complete the Tour Request Form and e-mail to 62aw.pa.mail@us.af.mil. The Public Affairs office will coordinate with the tour POCs regarding the specific dates and times.
Tour Itinerary
Tours of the 62d AW and Team McChord may include various organizations including the control tower, aircraft maintenance, medical clinic, McChord Passenger Terminal, enlisted dormitory, security forces and fire department among others. Groups may also view a C-17 Globemaster III display and demonstrations as well as visit the Heritage Park’s aircraft static displays. Part of the tour may include a visit of the dining facility, where tour groups will have the opportunity to dine in.
Transportation
Groups should attempt to provide their own transportation. In the event that organizations are not able to do so, Team McChord will make every effort to seek the use of base transportation, however it is not guaranteed. For convenience, groups are highly encouraged to use one bus. Requests to use multiple vehicles or large vans may be granted on a case-by-case basis.
