62nd Airlift Wing ShieldOur purpose is to provide trusted counsel to base leadership, build and maintain Airman morale and readiness, and help strengthen public trust and support.

The Air Force conducts thorough, active Public Affairs programs at all command levels to provide service members, the public, Congress, and media representatives timely, accurate and reliable Department of Defense and Air Force information.

Public Affairs activities fall into three sections: Media Relations, Community Relations and Command Information.


MEDIA RELATIONS
Media Relations links McChord Airmen and their leaders to the local and global audience about our global airlift mission.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Community Relations works to increase public awareness and understanding of the armed forces and the missions, policies and programs of the Air Force.

COMMAND INFORMATION
Command Information is the primary means Air Force leaders use to communicate news and information to Airmen and their families.

BASE OPERATOR
Public Affairs does not act as an operator service or base locator. They do not have the capability to redirect incoming calls to other offices. Please consult the JBLM Telephone Directory under the "Contact Us" menu above for phone numbers.

Studio Photography

The primary photo lab for JBLM is the Enterprise Multimedia Center. For official photos, please contact the EMC directly at (253) 967-3177 or through VIOS. Select "US West."

The 62 AW/PA office operates as a supplemental studio only. Schedule a photo with 62 AW/PA via email at 62aw.pa.mail@us.af.mil. In the email, be sure to include the name of the person you spoke to at EMC and the reason they couldn't take your photo.

All images undergo a quality control process and are delivered electronically to the member following their appointment. Members are responsible for saving that digital file; PA does not maintain imagery indefinitely.

Community Relations

  • TOUR REQUEST

McChord Field can be an excellent resource and educational tool for groups interested in aviation or a career in the United States Air Force. As community partners, we welcome you to take a glimpse of life behind the gates.

Public tours of McChord Field are available to organized groups of 20 to 40 people.

Tours are given Monday through Friday with the exception of holidays in four hour blocks in either the morning or afternoon. Tours are granted on a first come first serve basis. Groups must schedule tours at least six weeks in advance but feel free to schedule as far in advance as possible. No-notice or short-notice tours will not be supported. Groups are responsible for booking their own lodging. Fill out your request as thoroughly as possible.

  • FLYOVER REQUEST

To request an off-base flyover or static display, please follow the link here and complete per the instructions there.
 

  • REQUESTS FOR MILITARY SUPPORT AT EVENTS

To request a speaking engagement, marching unit, military equipment display, or military band download and fill out the Request for Armed Services Participation Form. Email the completed form to usarmy.jblm.imcom.mbx.pao-public@mail.mil.

Requests must be submitted at least 60 days before your event, because a legal review and coordination with the units are required.

COMMAND INFORMATION

To request Public Affairs support, please fill out the front page of AF Form 833 and email it to 62aw.pa.mail@us.af.mil. Our office will review your request and let you know as soon as possible if we are able to support. 

Please submit your request as early as possible, but we ask for at least one week prior notice to the event.
