JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. -- Team McChord announced the 2018 annual award winners during the Team McChord Annual Awards Banquet Feb. 22 at the McChord Club on Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Officer and enlisted service members, civilians, spouses and teams were honored as the best of the best in 15 different categories during the ceremony.
“It’s a real privilege to serve alongside all of you nominees and winners,” said Col. Scovill Currin, 62nd Airlift Wing commander. “I want you to take the time to understand how special you are. Thank you so much for everything and all that you do. You are wonderful.”
The award winners by category were:
· Civilian Category I of the Year – Mr. Jason Aven, 62nd AW
· Civilian Category IIA of the Year – Mr. Randall Sortino, 361st Recruiting Squadron
· Civilian Category IIB of the Year – Mr. Brendan Hilton, 62nd AW
· Civilian Category III of the Year – Mr. Robert McAlpine, 62nd AW
· Airman of the Year – Airman 1st Class Carolene Herrel – 627th Air Base Group
· Noncommissioned Officer of the Year – Staff Sgt. John Draxler, 62nd AW
· Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year – Master Sgt. Ryan Bauman, 361st RCS
· First Sgt. of the Year – Master Sgt. Garrett Skinner, 62nd AW
· Junior Company Grade Officer of the Year – 1st Lt. Sarah Buhler, 62nd AW
· Company Grade Officer of the Year – Capt. Calvin Heim, 22nd Special Tactics Squadron
· Field Grade Officer of the Year – Maj. Marie Harnley, 627th ABG
· Key Spouse of the Year – Mrs. Katelyn Madison, 62nd AW
· Honor Guardsman of the Year – Airman 1st Class Dalton Tutino, 627th ABG
· Innovation Team of the Year – Readiness and Emergency Management, 627th Civil Engineer Squadron
· Service Award of the Year – Fitness and Sports, 627th ABG
