Airmen from the 62nd Maintenance Squadron apply a stencil to a 62nd Airlift Wing C-17 Globemaster III for the naming of the aircraft May 12, 2016 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.” The name, “Flying the Hump” comes from the airlift missions, known as flying the hump, that were flown over the Himalayan Mountains between India and China from 1943 to 1945 involving U.S. C-46 Commandos and C-47 Skytrains. As it is extremely rare for a C-17 to be named, this marks the 4th aircraft out of 48 assigned C-17s at McChord Filed to receive this honor. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Tim Chacon)
