Read for Record

Tracye Kakely, McChord United Services Organization center manager, reads “Corduroy” by Dan Freeman to a group of first graders Thursday at Carter Lake Elementary as part of the Read for Record Jumpstart campaign. More than 162 children in the kindergarten and first grade participated in the event and also received the book to take home. The national initiative raises awareness of the importance of early childhood education and encourages hundreds of thousands of children and adults to read the same book on the same day.
