SOUTH POLE -- Members of the National Science Foundation work in the snow during the first C-17 Globemaster III airdrop to the South Pole, Dec. 20, 2006. Staffed by Airmen from McChord Air Force Base's 62nd and 446th Airlift Wings, the crew delivered 70 tons of supplies to the NSF. The mission was a "proof of concept" flight.
