Staff Sgt. Matthew Calhoun is a C-17 Globemaster III evaluator loadmaster in the standardization and evaluation flight of the 7th Airlift Squadron. He is responsible to the squadron commander for ensuring a highly capable loadmaster force is qualified and certified to execute combat airlift, airdrop and aeromedical evacuation missions. The Medford, Ore. native has previous experience as a C-5 Galaxy loadmaster. During his transition to the C-17, he quickly became an asset to the squadron. He rapidly qualified as an airdrop and instructor loadmaster and was recently certified as an evaluator. During the unit’s last deployment, he performed scheduler duties and was responsible for managing 11 aircrews deployed to Southwest Asia, flying five missions daily supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
