A historical photograph in a newspaper shows the McChord Field flightline filled with B-18 bombers. A volunteer restoration crew has been restoring a B-18 for more than 20 years, completely rebuilding the aircraft from the ground up. The aircraft now rests on Heritage Hill, representing similar aircraft that were assigned to the 17th Bomb Group here at McChord when it opened as an Army base in 1940. (U.S. Air Force photo/Capt. Ali Kojak)
