"Technical Sergeant Peterson is the NCOIC of Public Health and as such is the cornerstone of medical readiness for Team McChord," said Maj. Patricia Garcia, 62nd Medical Squadron OIC of public health. "His public health team leadership and diligence in reporting medical readiness to squadron commanders each month are pivotal reasons for Team McChord hitting an 85 percent medical readiness rate and sustaining a top third ranking of Air Mobility Command bases for a year. Sergeant Peterson was essential in the medical clearance of more than 2,000 active duty Airmen in 2010 with zero medical discrepancies. An expert in joint operation processes, Sergeant Peterson coordinated the seamless transfer of a $60 million base food inspection program to the Army in 2010. Expertly overseeing 23 health services inspection items, Sergeant Peterson's commitment to excellence in his area of expertise was key to the 62nd Medical Squadron receiving an "Excellent" in the recent Air Force Inspection Agency's Health Services Inspection and Sergeant Peterson was coined by the AFIA Inspector General as an "Outstanding Performer."
