The 62nd Maintenance Group hosted their annual LogFest Awards dinner here, April 4, an event recognizing their highest performing maintenance and aerial port Airmen.

The purpose of this event was primarily for MXG's leadership to take time to acknowledge 2013's Air Force and Air Mobility Command top performers in MXG to include AMC Maintenance Professionals of the Year, Lt. Gen. Leo Marquez award winners, Air Force Top 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year and to announce the 2013 McChord Field Knucklebuster award recipients.

The Knucklebuster Awards are unique from other Air Force maintenance awards, because the nominees are selected by their peers. Prior to LogFest, Airmen and civilians from the 62nd MXG's three squadrons nominated the Knucklebusters that would compete for the Top Knucklebuster Award, given at the end of the evening.

"Individuals competing for the Knucklebuster are the hardest working, all-round best maintainers and Airmen within each squadron," said Chief Master Sgt. John Frazier, 62nd MXG superintendent.

While highlighting the night's outstanding performers, the event was also a time for leadership to say thank you to the Airmen for all their hard work.

"LogFest is our chance to recognize our own and all the incredibly hard work they do to go above beyond each day throughout the year to ensure mission success and maintenance excellence," said 1st Lt. Naomi Ballard, 62nd Maintenance Squadron maintenance flight commander.

The event kicked off with a social hour, followed by a buffet style barbeque dinner, games and a speech by Chief Master Sgt. Gordon Drake, 62nd Airlift Wing command chief where he thanked all the Airmen for all their hard work and emphasized on their importance to mission success.

The night was an opportunity for Airmen to socialize with one another and get face-to-face time with their leadership in a relaxed atmosphere, said Staff Sgt. Summer Mancilla, 62nd MXG time compliance technical order monitor.

"These maintainers work 'behind the scenes,' day and night to ensure aircraft are mission ready," said Mancilla. "It's important for them to know people do recognize their hard work and they are appreciated."
