361st RCS welcomes new commander

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. --  Lt. Col. Jason Scott took command of the 361st Recruiting Squadron, at a change of command ceremony here June 26.

Scott assumed command of the squadron from outgoing commander, Lt. Col. Mitchell Dixon and Col. Frederick Williams, 372nd Recruiting Group commander, presided.

"It was Jason's passion to serve that resonated most with me," said Williams. "I think we chose the right guy to replace an exceptional guy."

Scott comes to McChord from Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, where he served as the 12th Flying Training Wing's chief of safety. Rated as a master navigator, Scott has more than 1,700 flight hours on five different models of Air Force aircraft which include the KC-135 Stratotanker and RC-135U Combat Sent aircraft.

Scott joined the Air Force in 1996 as a graduate of the Air Force ROTC program at Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas, and a Master of Military Operational Arts and Sciences degree from Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.

"Jason is a very humble leader, an exceptional officer, and an incredible husband and father," said Williams. "He will be very successful and I'm confident that he will do very well in this command."

Scott has served in numerous leadership positions worldwide in his 18 years of service including Afghanistan and the Pentagon. Throughout his career, he has been awarded numerous medals to include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Aerial Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster and Air Force Achievement Medal.

"This is an honor and a privilege I don't take lightly," said Scott. "There is no place I'd rather be, than right here right now with you. I look forward to working with this team to recruit the next generation of Airmen."
