JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. -- May 14th marked the inaugural McChord Field Brown Bag Hiring Fair of 2024, held at the customer service mall. The event featured over 20 different employers, including commercial airlines, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Bernice Harris, the event coordinator for the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Transition Assistance Program, discussed the organization of the career fair for military members and expressed the intention to continue hosting it every month.
“These recruiters are eager to hire our military veterans and spouses," said Harris. “We plan to host this event on Tuesdays once a month from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Building 100; the next one is planned for June 4th.”
The career fair showcased top-notch recruiters, including Willie Nunn, Regional Administrator for FEMA Region 10, who leads and coordinates FEMA missions within Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
“Thank you to JBLM for providing this venue and for offering this opportunity for service members to continue serving this country in some of the best jobs it has to offer," said Nunn.
