The 62nd Mission Support Group's commander's support staffs consolidated resources recently by merging into one office.

Master Sgt. Ronald Kellar, 62nd MSG commanders' consolidated support staff superintendent said manpower reductions posed a challenge to CSS personnel.
"We had to figure out a smarter way to do our jobs and provide support to all our commanders," he said.

Part of this "smarter not harder" method requires those 62nd MSG Airmen who need orderly room support to visit the 62nd MSG CSS' Web page on McChord's Intranet site, Sharepoint, said Sergeant Kellar.

The 62nd MSG CSS, however, did not assume all the duties squadron support staffs once handled, such as support for the Drug Demand Reduction Program, unit commander calls, Government Purchase Card and stripe and patch issuance. These programs will be handled by designated unit representatives, said Sergeant Keller.

Staff Sgt. Ellen Ayers, 62nd MSG CSS who previously worked in the 62nd Mission Support Squadron's CSS, said her ability to focus on specific tasks helps improve the quality of CSS programs.

Sergeant Kellar said the list of benefits of the consolidated support staff, such as increased accuracy and uniformity of paperwork, are proving the merger works.

"Although it's change and change is difficult, we're committed to outstanding customer service," he said. "More and more people are going to see that."

The 62nd MSG CSS is open from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and located in room B-180 in Bldg. 100. For more information, call 982-6095.
