Adventures Unlimited offers trips to Rodeo teams Published July 13, 2007 By Tyler Hemstreet Staff writer MCCHORD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- In celebration of Rodeo 2007, starting Monday Adventures Unlimited will be offering a different trip each day until July 27. The trips are geared to accommodate the Rodeo teams and their support staffs to give them a taste of a little bit of everything in the Pacific Northwest, said Adventures Unlimited director Josh Boisvert, 62nd Services Squadron. Whether the teams and staffs are from other parts of the U.S. or from other countries around the world, Mr. Boisvert said the variety of trips will appeal to everyone. "If the teams have some downtime during the competition and they want to get a good look at the local area, we can [help] them with that," Mr. Boisvert said. The sightseeing trips include a tour of Tacoma-area destinations such as Point Defiance Zoo and the Museum of Glass; Seattle sights such as the Space Needle, Pike Place Market and Experience Music Project; and a whale-watching trip to the San Juan Islands. There are also more active trips for those who would like to sample the great outdoors during their free time such as an outdoor rock climbing wall, a bungee jumping trip and a seven-mile hike through Mount Si. "There's no reason for the Rodeo visitors to just hang out on base," Mr. Boisvert said. "We want to get them out." Getting out and exploring the region is something the Rodeo teams here to observe will likely have time for, said Rodeo international teams director Aubrey Robertson, 62nd Airlift Wing. "We really let the international teams dictate to their host squadrons about what they want to do," Mr. Robertson said. The 62nd Maintenance Squadron is hosting the Belgian team and an observation team from Chile. The squadron has already come up with a list of activities to keep their guests entertained should they desire to venture out, said Maj. Alesia Quiton, 62nd MXS commander. The initial plan is to get together with the team members and decide which leisure activities will appeal to each member and if the squadron can offer something new for everyone, Major Quiton said. "If they have interest in any of the trips Adventures Unlimited is offering, we will certainly facilitate that," she said.
