The Airman and Family Readiness Center will provide families a chance to take a free holiday portrait on Thursday at the Chapel Support Center.

The 11th annual event is part of the AFRC's effort to celebrate November as the Month of the Military Family. From 3 to 7 p.m. families will have the opportunity to pose with or without their pets in a Christmas setting, said community readiness consultant Ruthie McMeans, 62nd Mission Support Squadron. Appointments are not required for the sittings and families can pick up their two free 5 x 7 portraits and a picture CD from the AFRC on Nov. 16, Ms. McMeans said.

"We want to encourage even families that have a member deployed to come and get their portraits done," she said.

Families can choose to pose with Santa Claus, a Christmas tree or a Christmas themed mantle in the background, Ms. McMeans said.

In order to accommodate more people this year, the AFRC added an extra hour to the event.

"We're hoping to target different groups of people at different times," she said. "We'd really like to see people who are picking their children up from school come during the earlier portion and those getting off work around 5 p.m. come a bit later."
