The creation of Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) has changed how many personnel are aligned under their organizations. This may cause confusion regarding IG (Inspector General) requests for assistance or fraud, waste, and abuse reporting procedures. To ease your concerns, we have provided some guidance...

If a request for assistance is service oriented, (i.e. Abuse of authority issues in your chain of command) it should be brought to your service's IG office; the 62 AW/IG (253) 982-3323 for Air Force military/civilian personnel or to the I Corps/JBLM IG (253) 967-5181 for Army military/civilian personnel.

Installation requests for assistance should be brought to the I Corps/JBLM IG. For example, you may consider contacting the JBLM IG office if the responsible agency is not responding to your repeated requests to have the leak fixed in the ceiling. Ultimately, if you are uncertain about where to file a complaint, please contact either the 62 AW/IG or the I Corps/JBLM IG and they will be happy to ensure the request is addressed by the appropriate office.

As a reminder, we encourage you to first use your chain of command to resolve conflicts. Most complaints can be resolved at the lowest level by simply communicating the issue with supervisors, first sergeants, commanders, the union, etc. However, if you do come to the IG we will provide an avenue to resolve and address the concerns of all complainants promptly with objectivity, integrity and impartiality.
