62nd AW earns high rating during ASEV

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. --  The 62nd Airlift Wing was recently praised for an excellent performance during the Air Mobility Command Aircrew Standardization and Evaluation Visit held June 18 to July 2.

The ASEV, conducted every four years, is designed to evaluate the proficiency of aircrew and validate flying mission readiness and effectiveness by examining programs, processes and documentation.

The 62nd AW received an overall "mission-ready" rating, which means that the wing has met the standards.

"You're doing a great job," said Col. Robert Holba, ASEV team chief to the members who attended the outbrief. "Teaming together with the 446th (Airlift Wing), you make safe, mission execution happen. You set the bar high and I'm very impressed."

The ASEV team comprised of approximately 19 evaluators and specialists from AMC and other bases.

During their visit, inspectors administered a closed-book evaluation to all available crew members, including deployed Airmen, to test their knowledge of emergency procedures, aircraft systems and limitations and command instructions. Of all the 62nd AW members tested, there were no failures and the average test score was 98.2 percent.

In addition, inspectors meticulously examined the wing's standardization and evaluation, tactics, training and aviation resource management programs. The 62nd AW was recognized for having 11 "best practices," particularly the Go/No-Go program, the systematic means to validate currency and qualifications of crewmembers prior to scheduled flights, and the training administration section.

"I'm proud of each and every one of you," said Col. Paul Eberhart, 62nd Operations Group commander. "This has been incredible effort on your part and the work you put into the inspection has been tremendous. I can't thank you enough. Congratulations and well done."
