Lieutenant Colonel MATTHEW WEINBERG

Lt. Col. Matthew Weinberg is the Commander, 7th Airlift Squadron, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. He leads 150 Airmen to provide responsive and professional global mobility for the United States and allies, overseeing the training and readiness of C-17A combat aircrews. The 7th Airlift Squadron is responsible to national leadership for securing U.S. interests through the effective employment of C-17A airland and airdrop capabilities across the full range of military operations, to include major combat operations, contingencies, aeromedical, and humanitarian missions.

Lt. Col. Weinberg was commissioned in 2008 from the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado. He attended pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, and was then assigned to Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina. Lt. Col. Weinberg has garnered world-wide experience as a C-17A Evaluator Pilot, qualified in airland, airdrop, and Special Operations missions. Prior to his current position, Lt. Col. Weinberg was the Operations Officer, Evaluator AC, C-17A, for the 62d Operations Support Squadron, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.

Lt. Col. Weinberg has completed five deployments to Southwest Asia and flown combat and humanitarian sorties in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, INHERENT RESOLVE AND FREEDOM’S SENTINAL.

Lt. Col. Weinberg is married to Mrs. Catherine Weinberg. Together, they have a chocolate Labrador named Moose.
