62nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron unit patch

 

The 62d MXG encompasses more than 1,400 active duty military and civilian personnel. The 62nd Maintenance Group partners with the 446th Maintenance Group to maintain, service and load 48 assigned C-17 Globemaster III aircraft worth over $10 billion, in support of worldwide combat and humanitarian airlift and airdrop operations. The group also provides 24/7/365 cargo, passenger, and aerial delivery for Joint Base Lewis-McChord’s power projection platform, to include operating the AMC Passenger Terminal at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

History

Established as 62nd Maintenance and Supply Group on 28 July 1947. Organized on 15 August 1947. Disestablished on 24 August 1948. Consolidated (19 Sep 1995) with the 62nd Maintenance and Supply Group, which was established on 23 June 1948. Activated on 22 August 1948. Inactivated on 1 June 1950. Activated on 1 April 1952. Inactivated on 15 January 1960. Disestablished on 27 September 1984. Reestablished, redesignated 62nd Logistics Group, and activated, on 1 December 1991. Redesignated 62nd Maintenance Group on 1 October 2002.
