Washington National Guard officials break ground on a new 23,500-square foot facility and home for the Washington Air National Guard's 262nd Network Warfare Squadron during a ceremony Dec.11. The $5.6 million construction project is scheduled for completion in October 2010. The mission of the 262nd NWS is to train citizen Airmen to provide network warfare capabilities to secure defense information networks and provide full-spectrum cyberspace options to the State of Washington, Air Force Space Command and 24th Air Force. Approximately 2,000 emergency services vehicles from throughout the U.S. and Canada depart McChord Air Force Base Dec. 8 in a procession to the Tacoma Dome Memorial Service honoring four fallen Lakewood, Wash., Police Officers. McChord Airmen provided a staging area for emergency responders and their vehicles and honored the Lakewood Police Officers by lining the streets of the installation procession route.
