For the past two weeks, Stacey and I have been getting to know the amazing McChord Air Force Base community ... it's been an enjoyable, exciting experience.

I would like to once again thank all McChord Airmen and family members, as well as our community neighbors and joint base partners, for the very warm welcome and support given to me and my family during this time.

While settling in, I've had a chance to visit many of the organizations that keep McChord's airlift mission going strong. Let me tell you, Team McChord's professionalism and dedication are truly reflected in all it accomplishes on a daily basis ... I've seen Airlift Excellence at every turn.

I've also been impressed by everyone's innovativeness and ability to adapt and change while improving processes and programs. I will do all I can to support this environment of continuous improvement so everyone can continue to excel ... Right here ... Right now.

Last, but not least, I've been struck by the amount of teamwork I've seen throughout the installation. It's evident you have all taken the Wingman culture to heart and understand the values it is based on. These values are demonstrated in your actions every day, such as being a good friend or an excellent leader.

These principles will serve us well as we welcome competitors and visitors from across the country and around the world for Air Mobility Command Rodeo 2009.

This event provides a unique opportunity to make new friends and build relationships ... I encourage all of you to bring your families to opening ceremonies at 9 a.m. on July 19 at the base of the control tower to see the official kick-off for this premiere mobility competition.

I know you will provide our Rodeo guests with the same warm welcome and support you gave me and my family. Our Airmen prove they are the best in the world every day as we keep those green tails flying to all corners of the globe. This Rodeo competition provides us another chance to shine ... a chance to demonstrate our Airlift Excellence ... Right here ... Right now!
