U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 8th Airlift Squadron and Army Soldiers from the 2nd Ranger Battalion conducted Joint Precision Airdrop System training near Yakima, Washington, Dec. 12, 2024.

During JPADS missions a self-guiding advanced cargo delivery parachute system is utilized to allow airdrop packages to be more precisely delivered to the designated target. This system increases safety for the aircrew dropping the cargo, reduces a deployed unit’s logistical footprint and decreases the need for other deliveries or convoys to sustain the force.

These types of training missions allow pilots and loadmasters to stay current on important training and allow the Wing to work closer with our Joint partners. This level of cohesion and procedural efficiency prepares the Wing to win in the global theater.
