The Air Force turns 59 this month, and McChord is set to honor the milestone with a top-flight celebration at 8 p.m. Saturday in Hangar 3.

The theme of this year's Air Force Ball is "Celebrating our part in history," said Captain Mark Barbire, 62nd Operations Support Squadron and Air Force Ball project officer.

Tom Hansen, a representative with the Air Force Association who's also on the event committee, said Airmen should keep in mind the motivation behind the event is honoring the Air Force.

"It's part of building an espirit de corps," he said. "We want the junior Airmen to get involved with celebrating their heritage."

The guest speaker for the event will be Retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Donald Brown. Emerald City Throwdown will provide the music entertainment for the night.

In addition to lowering prices for this year's event across the board, Captain Barbire said the event's photographer will provide soft copies of photos for people to take home free of charge.

Airmen interested in tickets to the event should contact their first sergeants.
