CMSgt Matthew DiNunzio is the Command Chief at the 62d Airlift Wing, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. In this position, he advises the Wing Commander, as the base’s Air Force Senior Service Component Commander and the staff on matters on the health, morale, training, professional development and utilization of approximately 7,000 Airmen from five Majors Commands to include an Air Force Reserve Wing, the Western Area Defense Sector and other units on McChord at the Department of War’s (DoW) only Army-led joint installations. Additionally, Chief DiNunzio ensures the Prime Nuclear Airlift Forces are mission ready as the sole DoW Airlift Wing task to maneuver nuclear and nuclear-related cargo. He also ensures the readiness of 40 assigned C-17 Globemaster III aircraft to support combat and humanitarian airlift operations.
Chief DiNunzio enlisted in the Air Force in July 2002, graduating as a Traffic Management Specialist in November that same year. He then cross trained into the Air Transportation Career Field in 2010. He’s served in various leadership positions at the Squadron, Group, and Major Command level in the United States, Korea, Japan, and Germany. He has deployed to multiple combat zones in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Kuwait in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, RESOLUTE SUPPORT and FREEDOM'S SENTINEL.
Prior to his current position, he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the 436 Mission Support Group, Dover Air Force Base, Delaware.
