A 62nd Airlift Wing C-17 Globemaster III has the nose art of “Flying the Hump” applied to it May 12, 2016 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. The name comes from the airlift missions, known as flying the hump, that were flown over the Himalayan Mountains between India and China from 1943 to 1945 involving U.S. C-46 Commandos and C-47 Skytrains.
