Lt Col Jamil I. Musa is the Commander, 7th Airlift Squadron, 62d Operations Group, 62d Airlift Wing, Joint Base LewisMcChord, Washington. In this position he leads 150 Airmen and oversees the training and readiness for C-17A combat aircrews in order to provide responsive and professional global mobility to national leadership. The 7th Airlift Squadron is responsible for securing U.S. interests through the effective support of contingency, aeromedical, and humanitarian missions utilizing the airland and airdrop capabilities of the C-17A, across the full spectrum of military operations. Lt Col Musa received his commission from the United States Air Force Academy in 2003. He has served as a Special Operations Low Level II Left Seat Instructor, Lead Airdrop Instructor, and Flight Examiner in the C-17A. Additionally, he has deployed in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, and has flown over 500 combat hours. An Olmsted Scholar to Morocco and North Africa/Middle East Foreign Area Officer, Lt Col Musa is proficient in Arabic and French. Prior to his current position, Lt Col Musa served as the Deputy Director for the Commander’s Strategic Initiatives Group, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/U.S. Forces Korea, U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan, Seoul, Korea.
